Having left that much earlier than you I had a carriage full of not so happy Carlton supporters, but there were lots of people right through to Croydon so all was fine.Philanthropist wrote:Well I have survived both the Stamp Boards dinner and the train trip home. Wish I could come, too. Today I made this cover for the MSDA Summer Show in Prospect Heights, IL. Am I missing anything?
After I made this, I noticed I should have:
1) Cancelled it in Prospect Heights, IL
2) Waited until tomorrow, and
3) I should have cancelled it in a different spot. (Yes, the clerk let me cancel it myself.)

Re: STAMPBOARDS LIVE at Melb. 'Stampshow 09' July 23/26!
I am sad to report Billabong was shattered when I got home from the show, yesterday. He missed MagoZ and her red shoes and the legs are even better than the avatar. He didn't attend with me because he was in disgrace after getting stuck into the Port on Thursday night.
Like Philly, I was in a crowded carriage, full of high/drunk teenagers.(or maybe they were just on a high because Mr B's team won.) Anyway, this 25 y.o. who had been snuggling up to his girlfriend all the journey picked on one of the teenagers, who were just in the mood to punch out his lights. I think he would have lost out though as there were about ten/twelve of them. Anyway, they saw good sense and with a few calming words, decided it was better for him just to get off the train without incident. From my opinion, it was not the teenager s at fault , but the 25 y.o. who should have known better.

Re: STAMPBOARDS LIVE at Melb. 'Stampshow 09' July 23/26!
Well the Gangs all gone, off to Kevins for a Feed and a spend.
I think most enjoyed themselves, except perhaps Jonah,s wife,,,who wa sfinding it a bit hard going,as she is not a collector at all.she did confide in me that she was planning something REALLY big later on as a "Get Back:
Roly,s position on the GOMC ladder has firmed considerably after presenting GOM1 with a Special Bottle of GOMC RED all the way from New Zealand,
Photos of the presentation to follow + others, as Glen was taking The Happy Snaps
Diver Pete,s Dad checked out the ACSC. and was pleased to find he had a nice little find of Missing Colour from the Metric Conversion set.Glen and I thought it looked good too,so what more can you ask.
Harry brought in a Truck load of stuff for viewing and selling, I have not had a chance to catch up with him yet, so I guess Monday will reveal all.
I must Thank all those who pitched in to help ,,,Waroff,Philly,Fercon Jerry,Ann Wiggy,Harry ,and Diver Pete, all had a hand in Transport,Coffee making, setting up etc.making the day a succsess.
THANK YOU ALL

I would rather drive through that beautiful country than down the Hume Highway.
Anyway, I had better let Melbourne have its moment of glory first. It seems to be going very well.

A bunch of stampboarders gathered outside Max Sterns shop in Port Philip Arcade before we headed for the train.
Ian Pitt General Manager of Renniks Lighthouse at left, was passing by and wondered what was going on!
RolyRJ grovelling and bribing shamelessly to become a member of the GOMC. He later knelt and begged, so they took pity on him.

Re: STAMPBOARDS LIVE at Melb. 'Stampshow 09' July 23/26!
Just got back from the show this afternoon feeling a little worn out!
Bought a few nice Mauritius and Gold Coast items but as expected Australian stuff dominates most dealers stocks.
Margoz seemed pretty busy everytime we passed signing up new people to the boards no doubt!
Time to take Mrs J out for the evening and spoil her with some nice food and wine for being so patient today!
ps Mrs J says it was nice to meet everybody and hopefully she will get to see everyone again at another show sometime!

Re: STAMPBOARDS LIVE at Melb. 'Stampshow 09' July 23/26!
Andrew, you WERE there, in spirit.
We do not forget you, especially withWaroff forever spouting off about the food that he enjoyed, and your hospitality. Who he was introduced to, the gifts and meals and the companionship of your family.
We cant shut him up. But rest assured that your name comes up from time to time, in fact your ears should burn on occasions.
I even gave another member the directions to the toilet (private joke, and it wont be repeated here).
The bbq included sausages in bread rolls hamburgers and salad, desserts with a selection of drinks all provided courtesy of Kevin Morgan. weather even improved with sunlight, but cold wind. You cannot control that, but enjoyed by those present there.
The Friday night dinner???? was there food on the tables, at any stage??? Does any body remember ...any food?
Regards

Amazing find!
Traralgon discovered this fantastic horde of stamps enroute to the Stampshow stashed in a biscuit tin beside the road.

Apologies for not being able to make the meeting today , currently sat at the airport having had to bring our travel time forward due to heavy loads out of Melbourne today...staff travel has it's limitations.
Was fantastic to meet everyone this weekend and hopefully will meet up again in the not too distant future.
Enjoy the meeting and enjoy the rest of your time in Melbourne...boarding time so have to run!
